Lips are often associated with beauty but can also speak volumes about our health. Regardless of whether we were born with well-defined lips or not, the quality of our lips changes with time.

Here are some tips on how to keep them looking healthy and kissable:

  • Stop licking them. Without sweat glands or hair to protect the delicate skin, our lips are prone to dryness. Saliva evaporates quickly and will leave the lips feeling dry and cracked
  • Exfoliate. Gently slough off dry skin by exfoliating your lips with a gentle scrub. Soft strokes with a toothbrush will do the trick.
  • Find a lip balm that both protects and moisturizes. As the skin is more delicate, an SPF is essential. Look out for natural ingredients such as beeswax, vitamin E, shea butter and lecithin. We recommend the Jane Iredale Lip Drink Balm SPF 15.
  • Consistently cracked lips may be a sign of a lack of iron or Vitamin B12 in the body. If you find yourself battling, why not look at improving your nutritional supplement intake.
  • Drink plenty of water. This will help not only your lips, but will hydrate your whole body.
  • Try an injectable filler for instant results. Dermal fillers, such as Restylane can be used to rejuvenate the lips, restore hydro-balance and/or enhance the volume of the lip. A single treatment will reveal beautiful, hydrated and naturally enhanced looking lips for up to 9 months.
